Go up one level in this thread
I don't think some people realise how lucky we are to have available top flight chess software at very reasonable prices. If a new release comes out I don't buy the upgrade, the prices are cheap enough to buy the full version each time. Hopefully the pirates are a very low percentage, and they must be doing it having no regard for furthering the upgrading of chess programs as the years go on. We largely have a few select suppliers that have brought the price down to very reasonable levels. This action has rationalised the market but left us with t he strongest programs surviving. I personally would stamp on any evidence of piracy I came across, it would ruin the business. The question as to pirating percentage is lunacy. Whom, as a pirate, would own up to doing it. It is virtually impossible for non-piraters to guessimate the numbers. Lets just try and keep the numbers as low as possible! KK
