Normally when you set sd=1, 2, 3, 4, 5 up until about 7, on today's fast hardware, it will move almost instantly. This was something I did not like, so I modified Crafty to play sd=x and still use the normal time. I do all this through the wb2uci converter through the Fritz, CPhessPartner of Arena GUI .Might be just the ticket . I am about a 1600 player - I set the SD to 3 which is about 1700 or so. 4 ply might be near 1800, 5 ply is near 1900 and 6 ply will take you to 2000 or so. It's pretty consistent about 100 points for every ply until 7or 8 ply and then it starts diminishing and will eventaully drop to about 30 points per ply in the teens. Email me if interested. This is all based on running sd=x crafty years ago on ICC - Crafty has changed over time and this may not be exact -- but it's a pretty good guess. Best Michael
