Dear Frank, Mind you I am not damning Linux or Unix for that matter. If Linus Torvald and his pals cannot judge if some code is clipped from elsewhere, then I believe that I am not fit to walk in his shadow, much less judge his judgements. Here's what I am doing. I am remarking on a news story about a law suit against Linux. Yes quite literaally SCO argues that Linux contains some Unix code. They haven't said what I said in words-- they said it in deeds! A lawsuit is a very loud and expensive proclamation of an idea-- it requires a burden of proof. I may have misunderstood the situation, Frank-- I am not an expert in intellectual property or anything else. I won't 'mince words' with you. Still I think the sense of what I said is clear even without spending a paragraph to spell it out like this. A person who is not a pirate because he uses some goody-goody OS can become one retroactively through judiciation. I am sorry this bothers you enough to pick my words apart. It bothers me too, or I wouldn't bring it up. marc On June 13, 2003 at 14:32:48, Frank Phillips wrote: >On June 13, 2003 at 13:37:09, margolies, marc wrote: > >>On June 12, 2003 at 22:50:53, Vincent Diepeveen wrote: >> >>SCO seems to think so.
