Hi Helmut,
I think that Shredder 7.04 is also stronger than Shredder 7. I'm actually
running a tournament between the Top 10 engines (not including the King) from
the positions of the Kasparov-Deep Junior match (game1 and 3). Shredder 7.04 is
by far the best engine.
It's First with Fritz 8 and Deep Junior 7!! which games are by far the best and
the most attractive. Sh7.04 wins against DJ7 by just 1 game up. I then run
another engine match of 24 games between these two engines. Imagine the result:
19.5 vs 4.5 for: SHREDDER 7.04.

Just a suggestion for any of the chess programmers, it's inteersting and
important to test the last engine against the other top engines, but it's also
interesting to test it against his "brothers" and also weaker engines because
the style of play of these engines could be hard for the last engine. This point
must be certainly important, because i've rarely seen someone testing the last
supposed top best engine against his older versions (or at least if so, we are
happy to see it win in a short number of games, we satisfy our selfes by seeing
it winning with 55.5/4.5 or 6/4).
