Endgames with Pawns rather than without, though the Pless-endgames' EGTs are needed first to calculate the EGTs for P-endgames. [ Someone in NZ provided me with stats on endgame occurences up to 6-man: I regret I can't now find this data on my PC. But P-less endgames do not feature highly at all. ] Symmetric force-profiles rather than non-symmetric. Thus: K(Q/R/B/N/P)PK(Q/R/B/N/P)P ... with the non-symmetric profiles giving the greater chance of a winning position. I think Marc Bourzutschky has made more progress in this area than Eugene Nalimov, though (when I last heard) Eugene has many EGTs which haven't made it to Rob Hyatt's site yet. Marc's are FEG/Chessmaster9k only though ... and not yet available for distribution afaik. Some work is concluding, showing that DTM(ate) is not the most efficient or effective metric to construct EGTs to. Moving to a better non-DTM 'EGT regime' if I can call it that will involve a non-forward-compatible move - perfectly feasible for 3-5-man EGTs - but pays off increasingly as we go to 'more-man' endgames. So, one might say, the earlier this change-of-stance re DTM is effected, the better. g
