If Kasparov and Kramnik were both computer programs which could not tell the difference if they are playing against another computer program or against a human, then they can justify their poor performance. But they can both adjust easy knowing who they will be facing. The only logical explanation would be that their oponents probably found out that if they play like computer programs they might have a better chance against the two Kings and took advantage of the situation.
