Lets say "Joe" has one of the top selling commercial programs named <X>. Lets say "Joe" is very well known in the comp chess world and <X> places very well in all of the top chess tournaments, even winning more than than most. The question is: what would be the advantage for "Joe" to get a friend of his named "Moe" to release a beta version of <X> that "Joe" knows will be very strong? Then all of a sudden we have a top program that can beat the commercials, beat most all non-commercial programs, and can place very high in tournaments posted at CCC. What would be the advantage for a programmer to release a version of the same program in another name using another programmers name, and sell it to the public---money? testing? ? kburcham
