Subject: The case of the rook vs rook with bishop- and rook-pawns endgame

Author: Matthew Barnett

In Alburt and Krogius' 'Just the Facts', they say 'the weaker side often reaches
a draw' in R vs R with a and c or f and h pawns endgame, given a couple of
techniques. This is what I've been taught and believe(d), too.

I'm trying to look into this further and find out what 'often' means in terms of
the percentage chances of winning/drawing/losing the game with this material
with CB8.

Short of trawling through over 3000 games that a 'material' search has thrown
up, which includes non- a and c or f and h pawn games, is there any other way of
finding this out, or narrowing things down further, with CB8?

Can anyone recommend any further reading or sites that may be of interest with
regard to this endgame?

Many thanks for any help.

Matthew
