I would think this is too agressive. I would expect you would lose games for
silly reasons this way. A pawn on the 7th could be as good as a queen or doomed
to be lost leaving you pawn down (or worse if you sac to get the pawn there).
That's quite a swing.  A pawn on the 7th should trigger an extension that would
hopefully give some clue as to what variety of 7th rank pawn you have. A static
eval of less than a pawn should avoid most silly sacs.

BTW, it also makes a big difference whether you are in an ending or not. In the
middlegame, the pawn is likely lost. In an ending, such a pawn has much better
prospects.
