I agree with your reasoning if games were played with castling flags on. If the programs that are not able to deal with FRC castling still win, I'll support calling them the FRC champion. But: Not setting the castling flags is about the same as not allowing a pawn to underpromote because some engines do not support underpromotions. There are numerous engines that do not support underpromotions and still do quite well, although they occasionally lose games because of this. But not knowing about FRC castling is a tougher nut to crack, as, it the opponent castles, the non-FRC aware engine is likely to be confused. Richard.
