Subject: Is the Novag Star Diamond rated 2300 USCF?

There are a few people out there who have this machine, and I hope with this
query they will post their thoughts about its strength. Have you played several
(or any) long games with it such as 40/120? Has anyone played it against its
parent the Diamond II? After all, interfamily conflicts are usually the most
violent! :-)

I'd also like to rehash a question posted earlier about the relationship between
the ratings of USCF, SSDF, and ELO (FIDE). Generally, people like to add about
180 points to the SSDF rating to get the USCF rating. In order to get FIDE ELO
people like to add about 80 points to the SSDF rating. Is this moderately
accurate?

Interestingly, I have a Radio Shack 2150L which, thanks to the archived messages
on this forum, I have learned is probably rated 1850. The last time I saw this
computer on the SSDF list it was rated 1932, and I do not know whether the 100
points had been subtracted from the SSDF list at this time which affected all
the computers. Just interesting that one would have to *subtract* points from
the SSDF list to get the generally accepted rating of 1850 USCF.
