And >how come most resellers only sell Dual Athlon up to 2800 MP and not higher? Best boards to get would be the iWill MPX2 or some of the newer K7D Master boards. They don't sell 3200+ MP chips yet, because they don't 'officially' exist.. however the cores AMD is producing is 2.4GHz and it's consistant. I take the remarked to lower speed chips and modify them to run SMP and to run their 'normal' speed. Also, did you know, every single CPU AMD makes starts out as an Athlon MP? All of the bridges on the chips are UNCUT... which means, before any laser cutting you have a completely blank chip and the best core available at the time. If AMD wants to mark it an Athlon MP 2800+, they don't cut the L5 bridge (smp on/off, cut = off, connected = on), and they set the voltage and other bridges to make it run the necessary multiplier & etc. When they make an Athlon XP all they do is cut the last L5 bridge. Thats the only difference between an MP and XP.. one 1/2mm cut piece of wire. Reconnect it, insta-Athlon MP.
