In some ways, given that Apple is a quoted company, I'm surprised the shareholders haven't revolted in some way. That said, if sufficient machines can be sold at a 30-50 per cent markup they can probably cope with a static market share :) I suspect that the Linux users are being taken from Microsoft rather than Apple (as per myself). I should have said that the £800 machine, with Windows XP Home, would be £888; with Linux Mandrake, for example, £801 (the cost of three CD-Rs). That 11 per cent matters in a bad economy! Alastair
