In some old version of Nero I used characters. Black and white pieces had
different colours to show which were which. And for pawns I used letter 'o',
which looks like a pawn seen from bird's perspective...
But this ASCII board has only one colour, so black pawn could be e.g. a '*'.

If one is having bold-feature to use. I think black piece's font could be
bold. They'd look "more black" than the other pieces.
