Subject: Parallelisation of EGT Generation

Thought is currently being given to:

- parallelising efficient ways of generating EGTs
- generating DTZ EGTs as efficiently as DTM(ate) EGTs are generated

[ DTZ == 'Depth to (move count) Zeroing (move)', i.e. to P-push/x/mate.

Obviously, the best way to mobilise a community of contributors is to have them
working on different endgames in parallel.

The business of shipping the data around either:

- for the initial stages of EGT-generation, or
- after EGTs have been generated

is becoming _the_ problem.

Already, EN is some 20 6-man P-endgame EGTs ahead of what's on Rob's site.

Marc Bourzutschky has generated (Chessmaster) EGTs for some 60+ such endgames.

DVDs will perhaps quadruple in storage capacity, so that will help.

I would be very surprised if 1TByte was enough for the 6-man DTM endgames.
