4. My conclusion
After a rather shaky start, (mainly due to the time bug), Junior 8 has proved
itself to be an extremely strong program. They are not many engines which could
perform so well vs Shredder 7.04 (Chessbase or classic). I haven't tested Junior
8 extensively at blitz but from playing on playchess and a few engine matches,
by comparison I can say that it performs much better in tournament time
controls.
If you take the time to go through the games, you will see Junior 8 finding
great moves and surprising Shredder 7.04 finding wins in endgame positions that
Shredder evaluated as a draw. I'm very pleased with its performance here.
