I'm sure most human players would instinctively play ... Re1+ and Rxe5, moving to a won K+P endgame. The (few) programs I have tried have different ideas, usually Re1+ and Re4: [d] 8/4p3/p7/3kBp2/P4Pp1/4K3/8/3r4 b - - The whole game is below; our friend the Bishop 'sacrifice' on g4/g5 turns up in unusual clothes. For those about to cry 'brilliancy' I was pleased with the manoeuver on moves 18 to 20 but the 'sacrifice' on move 24 was because I overlooked the Rook on h5 being en prise thereafter; it was fortunate ... g3 won :) Alastair [Event "Casual Game"] [Site "London, ENG"] [Date "2003.06.27"] [Round "1"] [White "Chess Tiger 15.0 Zire 71"] [Black "Alastair Scott"] [Result "0-1"] 1. e4 g6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 Qxd5 4. c4 Qd6 5.
