GERMAN: (ENGLISH below) Ein starkes Finish nach einem gegnerischen Zwischenspurt hat Fritz 8.0.0.23 das Endergebnis egalisieren lassen. Lag zwischenzeitlich Junior mit 10-5 vorne, konterte Fritz mit 4 Siegen in Folge. Das abschliessende Remis bedeutete damit einen Endstand von 10.5-9.5 für Junior 8. Erklärungsmöglichkeiten, warum Fritz 8.0.0.8 - von einigen als die stärkste Fritz 8 Version angesehen - mit 5.5-14.5 ausserordentlich unter die Räder kam, während Fritz 8.0.0.23 das Match ausgeglichen beenden konnte, fallen mir ad hoc folgende ein: 1. Fritz 8.0.0.8 hatte einfach "Pech" (statistische Abweichung), in diesen 20 Partien in unglückliche Abspiele gelangt zu sein. 2. Fritz 8.0.0.23 hatte "Glück" (statistische Abweichung), in diesen 20 Partien in eher gute Abspiele gelangt zu sein. 3. Fritz 8.0.0.23 ist wirklich deutlich stärker als Fritz 8.0.0.8, d.h. die bisherige Annahme, dass Fritz 8.0.0.8 die stärkste Version sei, ist falsch. Leider kann man aufgrund der vorliegenden Partien und Ergebnisse keine Erklärung als gültig erachten (ich persönlich würde aber Möglichkeit 3 eher ausschliessen), dazu wären wohl noch weitere Durchgänge notwendig. Dazu fehlt mir aber sowohl Zeit als auch Lust. :-) Es ist auf jeden Fall erstaunlich, dass die 23er Version trotz des Sxe4-Bugs dermaßen gut gepunktet hat. Das heisst wohl, dass der Sxe4-Bug im praktischen Spiel zwischen Schachprogrammen keine Auswirkungen (->Quereffekte) hat und nur in speziellen Stellungen auftritt. Trotz der starken Leistung hätte ich persönlich kein ruhiges Gewissen, setzte ich Fritz 8.0.0.23 in der Analyse ein... Momentan läuft das Match Junior 8 - CM 9000 SKR (erneut mit Shredder 7 classic Buch), bin mal gespannt, wie sich die SKR-Settings schlagen (Pillen-Settings erreichten ein 10-10). Ob ich danach noch mal die originalen CM 9000 Einstellungen mit Selektivität 12 antreten lasse, werde ich noch mal schauen. After a 10-5 lead by Junior, Fritz countered with 4 wins in a row. The draw in the final game produced the final score of 10.5-9.5 in favour of Junior 8 - an equal result. Explanations, why Fritz 8.0.0.8 - from some experts seen as the strongest Fritz 8 version - did so badly and lost by 5.5-14.5 while the 8.0.0.23 has come up with an equal result might be the following: 1) Fritz 8.0.0.8 had only "bad luck" (statistical error) in those 20 games and went into unfortune opening lines. 2) Fritz 8.0.0.23 had only "good luck" (statistical error) in those 20 games and went into fortune opening lines. 3) Fritz 8.0.0.23 is indeed clearly stronger than the 8.0.0.8 which means the assumption that 8.0.0.8 is the strongest of the Fritz 8 versions are simply wrong. Unfortunately one cannot say which statement(s) is true, not enough games have been played so far. No, I am not going to play more games to find that out, no time, no interest. :-) Although personally I tend to exclude No.3 from the explanations. Anyway it is amazing that the V.23 did so well in spite of the Nxe4 bug. That means that this bug plays no role in practical games as it seems and only appears in special (human-like?!) positions. However, I would still have doubts when using the V.23 for analyzing... At the moment the match Junior 8 - CM 9000 SKR (again with the Shredder 7 classic book) has started. I am curious how these settings will do, compared to the Pillen settings which reached a 10-10. Then I will see if I add another match Junior vs. CM 9000 sel.12, not sure now. Like the last match, the current match is available as live coverage again. You might need to reload manually and might miss results of the completed games.
