Go up one level in this thread
With a bit of backward analysis, I get:
9156293 23.295 Mat41 25. 1.Kh2 Kg4 2.f3+ Kg5 3.g4 Kh4 4.Kh1 h5 5.gxh5
Kxh5 {EGTB} 6.Kg1! Kg5! 7.Kf1! Kf5! 8.Ke1! Kg5
9.Ke2! Kf4! 10.Kf2!! f6! 11.Ke2 Kg3! 12.Kf1!!
Kf4! 13.Kf2! f5! 14.Ke2!! Kg3! 15.Kf1!! Kh4!
16.Kf2! f4! 17.Ke2 Kg3! 18.Kf1!! Kh4! 19.Kf2!
Kg5! 20.Ke2! Kf5 21.Kd3! Ke5! 22.Kc4! Ke6
23.Kd4! Kf5! 24.Kd5! Kf6 25.Ke4! Kf7 26.Kxf4!

38.Ke6 Kb8 39.Kd6 Ka8 40.Kc6 Kb8 41.Qb7#! {1081}
I certainly do not want to say, that this is the fastest mate - but at least it
is a mate score from the root position ... That score can be consired as proven
(White gets at least a mate in 41, perhaps faster).
I slightly doubt Mike's mate in 15.

Dieter
