Mr smith,

I had no quarrel with the factual part of your post.  My remark dealt with the
offensive and derogatory connotation you assigned to red-headed stepchildren.  I
find this sort of discrimination abusive and offending when employed in a
publich forum, despite its long-standing use in the English language.  As for
the phrase itself, thank you, I had been acquainted with its origins without
your pointing it out to me.  Besides,as an ex-moderator,  I found out that many
readers of the forum felt uneasy with this particular expression.

This explanation was my gesture of Christian good will.
