He's absoultely correct "It is for the average chessmaster user not at all interesting, because the majority of chessplayers doesn't have at home a Dual PC " It's just us diehards that have duals. But duals are great for engine/engine matches besides the "deep" engines. "buy of such hardware asks each time a substantial investment because certain components you have to buy twice and the total can add up quite a bit." I bought a single CPU machine from a Dell outlet - all Dell Xeon machines come equiped with a dual motherboard. I picked up a second CPU for < $400. A dual 1.7 Ghz with a 21" monitor cost me $2400 - that was two years ago. They were having a deal and the refurb monitor was "no charge". <$400 for the second CPU was a not substantial investment in my book. But he is selling millions of CM9K - how many thouands with a dual processor are looking for chess engines? Most of us are right here or at the winboard forum. What do you think UBI soft would give "Johan" for the few extra copies of CM9K sells due to a dual engine. That's right - perhaps a few extra dollars. It's not worth his time. Plus we are already buying CM9K - those that would buy a "Deep King" - the only incremental revenue would come from a higher price - like DJ8 or Deep Fritz. or perkaps it would be a freebie like Shredder or Sjeng - which would mean almost no extar dollars for Johan. So I see his point very well. I do appreciate all those who have given us SMP engines! > >On June 30, 2003 at 16:09:15, Uri Blass wrote: > >>On June 30, 2003 at 14:15:58, Vincent Diepeveen wrote: >> >>>On June 30, 2003 at 01:29:37, Johan de Koning wrote: >>> >>>>On June 29, 2003 at 18:32:09, Vincent Diepeveen wrote: >>>> >>>>>On June 29, 2003 at 09:57:23, Jorge Pichard wrote: >>>>> >>>>>>On June 29, 2003 at 09:35:50, Sherry Washington wrote: >>>>>> >>>>>>>Would that be Shredder7.04, i am reffering to TOP programs >>>>>> >>>>>>I have not seen a better tactical program than CM9000 yet. >>>>> >>>>>that thing doesn't even run at 1 and a half processor and won't show up at world >>>>>champs 2003 even.
