I am not pissed off at you.

If someone gets angry and craps on the moderators in a post, it usually causes
more harm than good to take it down.

Other people get upset about the post coming down, because they think that the
moderators might be trying to silence someone who has a valid point, and the
person in question almost always feels like this, and writes another angry post,
and because the first post is gone, general paranoia ensues on the part of the
person and various other usual suspects (including me) and troublemakers
(hopefully not me). Nobody knows what is going on, other than that the
moderators burned a post criticizing the moderators, and nobody can see if the
author had a point, so there is a lot of conversation about that, and eventually
Chris W is reactivated and we talk about his various bannings for a few weeks.

Being a CCC moderator is a constant battle to avoid flushing your head down the
toilet. It's a lot harder than it sounds, and those who have never tried it,
should try it. It is a nasty enough job that were I to update my resume, I
would certainly put that on it.

I pointed out the eBay thing to show that a certain amount of off-topic stuff
happens here. I don't argue that this is a bad thing. The more people who know
about that particular eBay fraud the better. It's been going on for at least
six months to a year though. It is very tricky, and a few times I've actually
gone (manually, not through the link) to my eBay account in order to make sure
that everything is in order.
