Comparision of an add-on chess engine with ChessMaster is almost meaningless.
They are completely different products.

Compare DeepSjeng (rather) with something like Gandalf, Ruffian, or Nimzo.

The ChessMaster product is nice for what it does. I hate the 3-D stuff, but I
can customize that away. If I want to play online, I will use Winboard. And I
can even use TheKing engine to play through Winboard if I choose. That does not
mean that I don't like CM or that CM is less valuable than Winboard.

I have a bazillion free engines and I like all of them. When I am tired of
getting blasted by Crafty, I will take my revenge against a weak sibling like
Golem or ChadsChess. I have Rebel, Hiarcs, Chess Tiger and Bookup. I like all
of them. I have Chess Assistant and I love it, but I still fool around with
SCID a lot.

In short, it's an embarassment of riches. I can't think of any chess software
product that rankled me (except for one, and that was my own fault, so I won't
mention it).
