This position is about tempo tricks. In a normal alpha-beta search using engine, even with optimal move ordering, you have to do all moves, and refute them. Many such moves will yield in shortcuts to the mainline. The HTs will remember the positions after the shortcuts, and with this info, the engine can see the mainline earlier. >p.s.
