Subject: RK 2003 [120'/60] Restart of tournament

We have decided to restart our RK 2003 tournament. The reason is a message of
Michael Drexel at CCC and our reply
http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?304269

In the meantime we have found out why from the 84 games so far played in our
database 77 games were with 1.d4 and only 5 games with 1.e4. Chessfriend Rolf
Bühler worked with the write protected opening book remis.ctg but "forgot" to
use the book option "Reset Weights" before starting the tournament. And as a
result of the many won games played by The King with 1.d4, this move had a much
too great probability in the book. Under the circumstances we feel it would be
best to completely cancel our tournament and to restart it under the following
conditions:

8 engines, 10 rounds, 280 games
Athlon 1.3/64 MB hash for each engine
Time control: 120'/60+60'/30+30'
ponder=off, 3-/4-men EGTB
all engines with own (write protected) books, no book learning
book options = use book, tournament book, optimize, minimum games 3
TK 3.23 with (write protected) book remis.ctg, weights reset to original
All games played under Hiarcs8-GUI
Tester: Rolf Bühler / Kurt Utzinger

We hope that this time especialle Junior 8 will be able to demonstrate that
it belongs to the top engines of the world. It may indeed be that it was a
disadvantage for this program to always play 1.d4.

Details [results, cross table, games] can almost daily be found at our homepage
