Subject: Strong Blitz Crafty (modfied)Setting

After 105 games, I have developed a new Crafty personality that appears to be
very strong in 5 0 blitz games.

Have yet to name this personality - but here are results after 105 games against
the strong Ruffian 1.0.5 engine

Game 5 0 :

1 Crafty 19.03 ST 2700 54.0/105
2 Ruffian 1.0.5 2700 51.0/105

I am not sure how these setting will do in longer games - but regardless of the
long game results - I will release a new modified Crafty 19.03 SE with this
strong blitz setting available as a modified Crafty.

I came across this setting by accident while tinkering with Crafty MPC. I still
can't make Crafty MPC stronger that standard Crafty - but these setting did show
a mark improvemnt for Crafty MPC. Installed in Standard Crafty, it made
standard even stronger at "fast" time controls. There is always the risk that
when you make an engine better as fast times controls - you make it weaker for
slower time controls - but I have a hunch these settings will hold up very well.

My modified Craftys are set up to run in Fritz 8/Arena GUI using the wb2uci
adpater = almost all Crafty settings changes can be made through a the F8
GUI/Arena interface or by modifying the the wb2uci.eng file. - I no longer use a
crafty.rc file - but you may still use one if you wish. The "personality" name
of this setting will selected after I assess the LTC strength.

You can even modify the null move settings through the F8 GUI.

Email me if you wish to be included on the distribution. Send me an e-mail with
the word "include" in the subject heading. If you are on my Crafty e-mail list
- you will be e-mailed the final version automatically.

As always, I will email Bob Hyatt a final copy of the source and executable.
Whether he incorporates the changes into a "released" crafty is up to him and is
also dependent upon his own personal schedule. My modify Crafty is distributed
for free with Bob Hyatt's permission and he naturally maintains all copyrights
on the source/program.

Best,

Michael
