Maybe something you might want to look at
Are the folowing questions.

Why does chess programmer becomes one?

Only for the change he eventualy might sell his program?

Or that his program eventualy gets strong?

can't you ask for a patent on the base code of the program?

If there is no trust.
You never will have the chance to cooperate well together.
But like every buisnesman knows without risks you never will win.

But even With contracts and copyrights
If you can't trust the person you work with
You always will regret that you worked with someone.

Even when you evantualy get a part of the money.
Wich happens in the comercial market.

But in the meantime your program might have increased that much in strenght
That you easely can sell an newer improved version from it on the market.
But you should not compare a two man buisnes with a multinational.
