A few years ago somebody from Sweden (sorry, haven't kept the author's name or the reference) gave the FritzMark position as : 1r5r/3b1pk1/3p1np1/p1qPp3/p1N1PbP1/2P2PN1/1PB1Q1K1/R3R3 b - - 0 1 I recently had a new look at it and compared with the FritzMark PVs given by Fritz 7 : 1...Bb5 2.Bd3 a4 3.Rh1 Rbc8 4.Nd2 ³ (-0.44) Depth: 6/23 00:00:00 84kN 1...Bb5 2.Bd3 a4 3.Rh1 Rbc8 4.Nd2 Rb8 ³ (-0.50) Depth: 7/22 00:00:00 129kN 1...Rhc8! ³ (-0.53) Depth: 7/25 00:00:01 234kN 1...Rhc8 2.Bd3 a4 3.Rh1 Bxg3 4.Kxg3 Bb5 5.Ne3 Bxd3 ³ (-0.56) Depth: 7/25 00:00:01 248kN 1...Rhc8! µ (-0.84) Depth: 8/28 00:00:02 486kN 1...Rhc8 2.Bd3 Bb5 3.g5 Bxg5 4.Rxa5 Qc7 5.f4 Bxf4 µ (-0.84) Depth: 9/35 00:00:04 1169kN 1...Bb5! µ (-0.88) Depth: 9/35 00:00:06 1418kN 1...Bb5 2.Bd3 Rbc8 3.Rxa5 Qc7 4.Rea1 Bxc4 5.Bxc4 Qxc4 6.Qxc4 Rxc4 7.Rxa6 Rb8 µ (-0.75) Depth: 10/28 00:00:12 2979kN Obviously there is no black pawn on a4 and the corrected epd, with diagram, is : [D]1r5r/3b1pk1/3p1np1/p1qPp3/2N1PbP1/2P2PN1/1PB1Q1K1/R3R3 b - - 0 1 Thus we indeed get the 65 possible black moves (FritzMark indication), but I have 2 problems with the position : 1. The last FritzMark PV indicates 1...Bb5 2.Bd3 Rbc8 3.Rxa5 Qc7, but 2 ...Rbc8 and 3 ...Qc7 are faulty moves 2. When you let Fritz 7 examine the position with fixed depth 10, you don't get the same evals and PVs. So maybe the FritzMark position isn't the one above... Can you find a better one, or has ChessBase told you something about it :-)) ?
