It doesn't sound promising.  Opposition generally means nothing except in
certain positions.  triggering an extension each time one side has the
opposition would only serve to drive the tree way deep along all lines,
which lowers overall depth so that the tree size is no larger than the
original tree (without the extensions) and also searches no deeper on
average...
