Provided you have good cooling and adequate voltage running to the chip, there should be no problem overclocking a cpu. I am pushing my AMD 2100 tbred (1700mhz)to 2500 mhz with no problem; its on 24/7. You may have to increase the voltage you feed your cpu to keep it stable, (which is where good cooling comes into play). With adequate cooling and voltage, there is no reason to fear overclocking.
