I know the old Sapphire and Diamond ran engines written by frans Morsch, who
also wrote the Fritz engines. I think the new Sapphire and Diamond also use the
same engine with minor tweaks. So, if the mephisto and novag both use the same
engine, it is probably a matter of who has the better hardware and features.

BTW, I thought that the mephisto units used to use the King, or Rebel - did they
also use Fritz? Maybe someone with more experience (and a longer memory could
enlighten us on this).

I have a Sapphire, and feel that durability is adequate, but no better than
that. It's conceivable that I would buy another novag product, but would at
least look at the mephisto.
