If you think about it, maybe you will realize it is quite possible that human elo climbs slower than computer elo. The reason being that humans fluctuate much more and good and bad days affect everyone equally, as well as the fact that there is much more learning (e.g. how not to feel intimidated by a particular human opponent), so therefore, human advanvcements of elo would eventually take longer, whereas computer elo can move fast and unimpeded, since it is all stationary. Therefore whilst a human moves from 2300 elo to 2600 elo, it might take computers to go from 2300 elo to 2800 elo to get to the same qualititive advancement in actual chessplaying level.
