Hmmmm wishful thinking? Wishful thinking? Not at all. Thanks to the wonderful unix/GNU tools that we have, I imagine this whole thing will be no more than a couple of greps and a sort -u(maybe an xargs too). I'm at work today, so I'll have to wait until I get home to try it.
