peter- I suspect the formulation of your question-model is too abstract. Most
likely any change in performance of a specific computer as a result of using
tablebases might be a result of how quickly these bases can be accessed during
play--a hard drive speed and data channel throughput issue which is not asked
about here. Also completeness of a tablebase collection can be critical-- 5pc
endings require close to 8 gigabytes stored on a harddrive.
A more interesting question--(I think)--does the existance of installed
tablebases change the style of middle game play. I.E., when a forcing line leads
to a rapidly calculable ending more often, can we suppose the machin is more
willing to liquidate  material - or should it be so?
