I guess that a programmer who needs to write the same algorithm for 486/33 is going to write it in a different way. I compare between Crafty and cray blitz because based on my knowledge crafty has also some knowledge that cray blitz had not. Better algorithm(null move pruning). In part of the cases better evaluation based on more experience. Based on my memory of previous posts some months or some years ago you admitted that it was not clear if Crafty is better or worse than Cray blitz with the same number of nodes so I guessed that assuming that they are equal is not a big mistake(even if I am wrong by 100 elo then it is still clearly less than 600 elo ssdf rating difference).
