I think that you are wrong.
Bg2 has a threat to capture the bishop and some moves after it also has a threat
to promote a queen.

Maybe there seem to be no threat in the last plies but without null move pruning
you also lose plies.

Fritz8(with selectivity 0) cannot find it even at depth 16 and even after Bg2
Bxg2 it shows negative score at depth 17 so it means that it cannot solve it in
the root position even at depth 19 or in other words it cannot solve it in a
reasonable time without null move pruning.
