Hi everyone,
Today I finished a few things that my website needed. It is an on-going
tournament of 32 engines right now, later 16 more will be added after that, more
and more will be added until I have reached 100 engines, then engines who don't
make the "cut" won't get to participate. All games are played at the time
control 40/40+40/40+40 with ponder=off. The rest of the conditions are on my
site.
The intent of this site isn't really to compete with other existing tournament
pages, but mostly to pick up where Leo's site is left off, ratings of
non-winboard engines against Winboard engines. I believe that amateurs are
gaining ground on the pros very quickly, and the latest releases of Ruffian,
Sjeng, Delfi, SOS 3, prove this IMO. The quesion is, how much more are the pros
still up? I don't know and hopefully I will find that out.
Of course beta's of existing engines are always welcome, engines that are not
stable in WBEC-Ridderkerk and other touranments or not released commercially
will not be used in my tournament. Sorry to all the new authors of exciting
engines, but I don't have an interest in finding bugs, I do however have an
interest in gauging the strength of the engines. Perhaps later I will accept
newer engines and increase the number of engines participating, once I get more
hardware for testing etc... but right now things are only done on 2 computers,
and to test engines that I do not even know if they are stable or not are
some-what a waste of my time.
If a new version of an engine appears before the start of its division it will
be used, or if the author sends a beta before a division starts it will be used.
Division A 1st Edition 2003
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
1 Shredder 7.04 **** 10½1 0½11 1½½1 8.0/12
2 Delfi 4.2 01½0 **** 1001 1½½1 6.5/12
3 Junior 8 1½00 0110 **** 00½1 5.0/12
4 Ruffian 1.0.1 0½½0 0½½0 11½0 **** 4.5/12
5 CM9000 SKR **** 1½11 3.5/4
6 Hiarcs 8 **** ½½11 3.0/4
7 Fritz 8 ½½00 **** 1.0/4
8 AnMon5.21 0½00 **** 0.5/4
I am very much rooting for the amateurs (go Delfi!) however I will not tamper
with the results at all. (By the way CM9000 SKR - AnMon5.21 games were
accidentially deleted but I do remember the result and have added them to the
PGN perhaps a replay will occour later).
I started with Division A first because I want to find the ratings of these
engines first because of the upcoming generation of pro's (I have a feeling
HIARCS 9 and Shredder 8 will be released very soon.) but once all divisions are
done for the 1st edition I will start from the bottom of the divisions for the
2nd Edition. I think that is it for now, if you have any questions/comments
e-mail me.
P.S. I perhaps will publish half of the games live if someone with experience
with publishing games live through Fritz 8 GUI will help me out. Thanks
Luis Smith
