There are games when it is easy not to do mistakes in them. The decision if to try to go for positions when it is easy not to do mistakes proves nothing about the level of the player. A grandmaster can also do it in a game when he wants a draw. If a strong player does not want to avoid positions when it is easy not to do mistakes in them then the player can avoid losing games and at the same time he may often draw against 2000 players. That player can be a grandmaster by choosing to go only for tournaments when the opponents have better rating so he is going to earn rating in every tournament until he becomes to be a grandmaster.
