Hi,

I suddenly realized that the problem is probably a different one.
As Arena 0.93 doesn't send a string 'variant fischerandom' and I did want to
support both standard chess and FRC with the same program, I made a
configuration parameter telling what the default variant to play would be. If
this parameter is not specified, the Baron would assume normal chess.

So, why did it go wrong?

Well, good question.

The specification of 'variant' has only impact in the way castling moves are
communicated. So when castling flags are specified like in the first position,
the Baron still recognizes the FRC castling here as a possibility. But is goes
wrong in communicating the castling move to Arena. It will specify for some
reason e8c8 which is of course an illegal move.

More or less the same happens in the second position. The Baron wants to castle,
and writes e8c8.

Well, here it is very obviously a bug. It should have written e1g1. I'll correct
this.

Anyway. To force the Baron to play FRC in Arena 0.93, an extra command is
required in the baron.ini file:

variant frc

This will set the default game variant to play to FRC and castling notation
should be ok then.

I will release a version 1.0.3 for the FRC Baron this evening correcting both
errors (in the Baron and in its documentation).

thanks for reporting.

bye,
Richard.
