jokes apart; i have noted that these benchmarks have correlated well with fritz marks for the different processors quite well;there is a german website which has fritz marks for various processors (the link to this has been posted on this forum as well; i can't remeber the link)and these numbers correlate extremely well with the relative benchmarks posted on these web pages ie business winstone 2002: i have no idea how well the opteron will fare for current chess programmes but if these benchmarks are comparable for chess performance for the opteron as well then (as they have been for other processors) the opteron 244 is only on par with and Xp 3200 and i predict a not too bright future for the opteron: if this is the best that AMD can do, i doubt it has much of a future anyway as a corporation; might go the way of the late and unlamented Cyrix! and Mr Reagan you seem to have the same level of intelligence as your name sake the Ex president of the USA! lets have a bet: 1 yr from now the best performing intel will blow the best performing AMD out of the water; i'll bet you a copy of the latest chess software ! you can bookmark this message and get back to me on 21-07 2004!
