What's so great about Crafty?
Well Crafty has been one of the first freely available chess playing engines.
Crafty was one of the first doing book learning and position learning.
Crafty was one if the first using EGTBs.
Crafty comes with source code and so you may modify it the way you want.
Forget about ply count and nps.
IMHO Crafty plays great chess.
