Some very good suggestions in this thread. I would add "Improve Your Chess Now!"
by Jonathon Tisdall. The book is a modern classic on all facets on how to
improve ... boardsight, judgement, psychology, defensive play ... Don't be put
off by the simple title. He takes Kotov's ideas and deepens them enormously. As
regards to the "Tree of Analysis", he quotes Lein: "I don't think like a tree.
Do you think like a tree?". I love it when he quotes Miguel Najdorf's
grandmother. It's a keeper written in a sincere, yet personal style. Be prepared
to work hard though as he aims pretty high.
