You may be right, but i disagree in your statement "is completely meaningless".
Because i believe if Fritz 8 for example, is stronger from Shredder 7 without
pondering then it is more possible to be stronger also with pondering.
But for proving this we need of course two tournaments with a really huge number
of games in each one, one with pondering and one with not.
Until then it's better not to talk about if is meaningless or not.
