Right! What is important for you from an engine? To solve a problem or the way had solved it. Because chess-engines have been created to play chess and the way they can play it better, is unimportant. If you interested in the intelligence of a program that's an another story. Computers only, are able to use X-piece (2<X<33) endgame tablebases and at this moment they use 3-4-5 and 6-piece tablebases. Humans can't create a book that can have the solution to 6-piece or even 5-piece endgames, even for a specific set. But engines are able to use such electronic-books to play perfect. So it's silly not allowing them to use the tablebases. >If humans are allowed to use book during games then I do not find it as stupid >if they do not learn the relevant books before the games. > >programs are allowed to use tablebases in all the serious tournaments so >I do not find it as stupid if they do not have the relevant knowledge. > >Uri
