This happens when you set up the position manually in Arena without letting
Arena know it's an FRC game. You should either:
- Let Arena pick the starting position by selecting 'Start new FRC game'
- Use a Trick posted by Federico (Chispa) on the FCP forum:
First load the EPD, the go to setup position and select FRC
What FRC Baron tries to do in this position is castling. It does it correctly by
sending the string O-O. Arena doesn't understand this when it doesn't know you
started an FRC game and treats the move as an illegal move and resign on the
Baron's behalf. The Baron did not resign, the GUI adjudicated the game because
it wasn't aware the FRC rules applied.
Richard.
