I've seen programmes miss for example, combinations that lead to a forced draw
with a pawn or pawns on the rook file with the wrong coloured Bishop.

So in that case that knowledge would be very good to impliment.

I guess I could run tests to find many problems, but I'm not a tester.
The only problem I see with more knowledge would be in certain cases it
might eat up compute cycles. Of course there are pros and cons....I admit I'm
bias in this area. I've watched computer chess develope since the late 1970's
and when programmes got "smarter" as well as "faster" I clinged to the idea
brains was often better than brawn.
