I do not know what most people don't know.
It is possible that most people also do not know to play chess but the facts are
that winboard becomes more popular in the last years.

There are more than 200 free winboard engines
see http://www.f11.parsimony.net/forum16635/
and choose select engine(in the upper right side of the screeen)

You can select more than 200 engines
some of them like enginmax are not available because the author decided not to
make it free after it was free but in most cases authors do not decide things
like this so I thnik that you can get today about 200 free winboard engines.

Winboard becomes more popular with more time.

Some years ago winboard was not popular but today the situation is completely
different because the number of strong winboard engines get bigger.
There are many tournament for winboard engines.

Rebel and Chessmaster are going to join to the next winboard competition.
