I don't recall Bruce Moreland ever saying it was his "dream" to make Ferret a
commercial program. Mac's only make up less than 2% of all PC's, hardly a viable
target market wouldn't you say? Dual CPU's are also slim pickins in the home PC
market, now.
When dual's become popular, I'm sure Christophe will "make the jump" with a dual
version. IIRC, he stated already that ChessTiger would need a major re-write to
run on a dual CPU mobo.
Vincent is working hard to get Diep improved on a NUMA type supercomputer for
the upcoming World Championships.
Crafty is still improving, but it's competitors are improving as well, so 100+
pts. improvement would be indeed remarkable. It's important to remember that Bob
doesn't just hang out in CCC and RGCC, and work on Crafty. The University
actually does need him to work as a professor, as well.
If you like a particular girl's voice, why not try to add one onto Crafty? Might
be fun to hear it announce the moves, maybe like a Mae West voice ("Why don't
you come on up and checkmate me, sometime?");).It could be a command line
option, perhaps.
I'm not sure too many dreams are not being achieved, tempered with reality
though, as well as desire.
