Hard to say but I'd be surprised if Fritz holds it's edge... unless the new
engine has a new set of conditions linked to its autoplayer: minimum 256 Mb ram,
PII-500, and those Ray-Bans it saw in the store the other day so that it can win
in style...
Seriously though, Rebel 10 will have to be tested privately as it will not be on
the next SSDF. As for my opinion, which at this point is pure speculation, i'm
putting my chips on Hiarcs 7. Version 6 still takes my breath away at times and
it is by far the best endgame player. I have played it on Chess.Net and do you
have any idea how many times I have seen it swindle a program in the endgame? It
could be down a pawn, sometimes two, and still save the day, or transform an
inferior position into a win. Amazing. And this against equal or slightly
superior hardware.
