There were no "scientific tests" done by the Majestic Chess development team. We
just matched it up a few times against various other engines (Crafty, CM9000) to
ensure that it could play "at GM strength".

I have no idea about how Kittinger modified his engine since the Sierra Chess /
WChess days.
